Packing Essentials

Ihram Clothing (Men)

  • White Ihram garments (recommended: 2 sets)
  • Ihram belt for keeping belongings
  • Comfortable sandals that don't cover the ankles

  • Loose, modest, comfortable clothing
  • White or dark hijab
  • Comfortable walking shoes

Step-by-Step Umrah Rituals

Step 1: Ihram

Ihram begins at the Miqat — for those flying from Egypt, the Miqat is Al-Juhfah (Rabigh). Airlines announce when approaching the Miqat. Perform Ghusl, wear Ihram garments, make your intention, and recite the Talbiyah: "Labbayk Allahumma Umrah".

Step 2: Tawaf

Upon arriving at Masjid al-Haram, proceed to the Kaaba and perform 7 circuits starting from the Black Stone (or its alignment), keeping the Kaaba on your left.

Step 3: Two Rak'ahs at Maqam Ibrahim

After completing Tawaf, pray two Rak'ahs behind Maqam Ibrahim.

Step 4: Sa'i between Safa and Marwa

Start from Safa and end at Marwa — 7 rounds total.

Step 5: Halq or Taqsir

Men: Shave the head completely (preferred) or trim the hair. Women: Cut fingertip-length from the ends.
